What is Telehealth?
Telehealth, or teletherapy, is the use of electronic devices, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, to receive mental health care from a treatment provider. It allows Pyramid Family Behavioral Healthcare to provide online mental health treatment and substance abuse counseling without an in-office visit.
Benefits of Teletherapy Services
Teletherapy offers a number of benefits for patients, including:
- Therapy from the safety and comfort of your home, even if you are not within driving distance of a Pyramid Family Behavioral Healthcare treatment facility.
- Meeting one-on-one with a licensed therapist in a secure, virtual setting.
- Flexibility to schedule sessions during times that fit your schedule.
As you prepare for telehealth treatment from Pyramid Family Behavioral Healthcare, here is more information on what to expect.
What technology is used for telehealth services?
Pyramid Family Behavioral Healthcare uses BlueJeans for Telehealth to conduct online therapy sessions. This is an easy-to-use video conferencing platform that connects you with one of our highly trained therapists.
How do I schedule or join a telehealth therapy session?
For new clients, scheduling a teletherapy session is simple. Call 866-805-6485 to speak with our Admissions team who will gladly walk you through the process.
What happens when I call to schedule an assessment?
- Admissions collects general client information such as your name, birth date, contact, insurance information, and a brief description of current symptoms.
- Our team schedules a telehealth Level of Care Assessment (LOCA) to determine the level of care necessary to achieve your treatment goals. LOCAs conducted over BlueJeans take between 1.5-2.5 hours to complete depending on which program is appropriate.
BlueJeans video conferencing makes it simple to join telehealth therapy sessions. Call us with any questions or concerns about accessing your virtual session.
How do I prepare for a teletherapy session?
Before a virtual therapy session, find a quiet space with strong internet connection. Make sure you are in a location where you won’t be disturbed and that your device is fully charged. While not required, we recommend using headphones or earbuds to improve sound quality and provide added privacy.
What should I do during a session with my therapist?
Online therapy sessions should be viewed as and treated the same as an in-office visit. Maintain communication with your therapist and speak clearly. Avoid doing additional tasks or distractions such as cleaning, watching TV, or cooking.
Is my privacy protected with telehealth?
Yes. Our telehealth platform, BlueJeans, uses highly secure, encrypted video connectivity to meet HIPAA privacy rules.
What does encryption mean?
Encryption is the process by which the data transferred between client and clinician is translated into another form (or coding language). This code is only converted back into video data by a user who has the “key.” Only the people who have been invited to your BueJeans teletherapy session have this key. This means that your information is only available to you and your therapist.
